Horsey Gap is home to one of the largest colonies of Grey Seals in the UK. Numbers have been steadily increasing with over a thousand seal pups born along this beautiful stretch of coastline each year. Even in the summer months, seals can be seen on the beach or swimming along the shoreline.
During the Seal Pup Season, (end of October to the end January) it is important not to disturb the seals or their pups so viewing is from the sand dunes and the designated ‘viewing platforms’ only.
You can drive to Horsey Gap or walk from Winterton up the coast (around an hour). There is parking - It is £3 for up to 2 hours, and £5 for the day. It's around 20 minute walk to reach the seals from Horsey Gap although you are likely to see their heads popping up in the sea as you approach.
DOGS must please be kept on leads at all times when near seals.
The charity ‘Friends of Horsey Seals’, have a dedicated team of volunteers who look out for and protect the grey seals and their pups along the coast at both Horsey and Winterton.
